I highly doubt any one with a full time job will trade enough volume for it to be cost effective to claim trader status when filing taxes. If you trade for a living, not work as a trader then it makes absolute sense to file as a trader.
What is the advantage of claiming trader status on your tax return? I buy / sell shares on different days of the week (example: Buy on Monday, Sell on Friday). Does that make me a day trader?
I am doing this on H1B. I do have approved EAD.

gc28262 why are you promoting a lawyer website? lawyers run a for profit business and will get more clients when more people visit their site.
Why dont you make an effort and bring the discussion from other websites to IV site?
What is wrong with lawyers ? And that too a reputable lawyer like murthy.
Don't you use lawyers directly or indirectly for your immigration work ?
Facts are facts irrespective of where it comes from.

Interesting discussion about 245(i) cases on murthy.com forum (http://murthyforum.atinfopop.com/4/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=1024039761&f=1474093861&m=7381004591)
Indication of large number of 245(i) labor filings (http://www.murthy.com/news/UDmdlab.html): murthy.com
The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Registration (DLLR) announced in mid-December, 2001 that their office is logging in and issuing confirmation of receipt for cases received on April 30, 2001. A remaining 1,500 applications received that day await the logging-in process.
As MurthyBulletin and MurthyDotCom readers may be aware, April 30, 2001 was the deadline to file for INA Section 245(i) eligibility under the Legal Immigration and Family Equity Act (LIFE Act) of December 2000. This provision allows individuals who are out-of-status or who entered the U.S. without being inspected at a designated INS port of entry to adjust to permanent residence, if they are otherwise qualified. In order to benefit from this provision, the individual must be the beneficiary of a labor certification or a family petition filed on or before April 30, 2001. For this reason, extraordinary numbers of cases were filed nationwide on or slightly before April 30, 2001. According to the information released by the Maryland DLLR and other states, local DOL offices did not receive additional funding in connection with the LIFE Act filings.
With respect to case processing, the DLLR reports that they are processing RIR cases received April 5, 2001 and non-RIR cases received March 8, 2001. Of course, these processing dates will be further affected by the glut of cases filed on or immediately before the LIFE Act deadline.
These time frames are similar to those experienced in most other states that are attempting to catch up on the huge volume of cases filed on or before April 30, 2001. We will share information with our MurthyBulletin and MurthyDotCom readers as and when released by other state labor agencies.

Hello,
I have sent my Passport for renewal to CGI Houston, TX. I have shipped it via FEDEX on Oct 19 and it reached CGI Houston on Oct 21. It was signed by some one by name Kohli.
In the Site its mentioned, the renewal will take 7 business days. Based on this thread, I see that it might take around 3 weeks time
Can anyone tell me, Whether CGI houston communicates to us once the passport is dispatched? Will they give FEDEX / USPS tracking number to track? I want to make sure that some one will be at home to collect it.
Thanks in advance

Can IV and Mr. Gotcher help us in preparing draft of the letter. We can send flowers and letter to the person that IV and Mr. Gotcher recommends. As I said before this group is willing to collect additional funds for lobbying for this purpose.

I will reach out to the admins and see if they can provide some templates. By the way, we could use one of the other (issues) templates that were floating around a couple months back. Not sure if they are still there.
I think that we all should send the letter individually. Why? Because the if each one of us will send, it will look genuine and will remind the DoL each time/day they get a letter. We have 50 some people, 50 letters will make them look into it.
P.S: good job in finding the plan, its about time that we do something, I dont think any more people are going to come.

Tier I
First, call 2 senators from your state.
Tier II
Patrick J. Leahy - 202-224-4242
Arlen Specter - 202-224-4254
Chuck Hagel - 202-224-4224
Diane Feinstein - 202-224-3841
John Cornyn - 202-224-2934
Harry Reid - 202-224-3542
Mitch McConnell - 202-224-2541
Mel Martinez - 202-224-3041
Trent Lott - 202-224-6253
Lindsey Graham - 202-224-5972
Tier III
Then call all other senators as many as you can. The phone numbers are in the post below for your convenience. Please speak clearly and legibly, and emphasize on the words in upper case as listed below, so that the person listening can hear you well.
Is it ok to send faxes? and is there a format that lot of people are using or its personal story for every one?
cheers

What USCIS did to the other worker category in June was clearly a violation of Federal regulation (8 CFR Section 245.1(g)) - however since the numbers were insignificant, the violation went unnoticed.
It goes without saying that AILA will file a federal law suit seeking immediate interim relief, if the USCIS does this again...
The repercussions of such a law suit will be worse for the USCIS and very good for the filers. If the judge grants interim relief, that will mean USCIS cannot close the doors until the law suit is settled...USCIS is probably already aware of this possible repercussion and will most certainly avoid this lawsuit situation...
There are an estimated 250,000 (primary) filers expected to take advantage of the July visa bulletin...a number that is hard to go unnoticed...
AILA has already sent a legal memo to the USCIS, not to violate Federal regulation (8 CFR Section 245.1(g)), he is pretty confident, USCIS will continue to accept I-485s at least until the end of July...

^^^^ A very important day, where the house representation is expected to significantly change affecting the outcome of future bills, especially related to legal and illegal immigration.
Hope the changes today are for the better in general and will also help our situation.
It will be a fallacy to think anything will be done for legal immigrants because Republicans will take over the house. The main intent of that party is to throw Obama out after one term and so for the next 2 years any progressive legislation is highly unlikely (I am not talking about CIR. I think it is a given that CIR is not going anywhere in the near future). But, I am an optimist!
PS - My status is not updated because I am not in the GC queue yet.

Anyway like Eb3retro I also lost my interest so changed job. Profile don't meet much with what written in i140, so who cares if GC rejected I will be heading to India.
Good Luck for all your efforts!
Hi ssingh, please post this amount on the 'Advocacy day contributions' thread. Thanks.
